What Is the New Medicine Service?
The NHS New Medicine Service (NMS) is a free service that helps you get the most out of a newly prescribed medicine. Starting a new medication can raise questions and concerns — our pharmacist is here to support you through the first few weeks.
The service involves two consultations with our pharmacist: one shortly after you start your new medicine, and a follow-up consultation a few weeks later.

Conditions Covered
- Asthma
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure (hypertension)

NHS NMS
The NMS is available to patients who have been prescribed a new medicine for the first time for one of the listed conditions. Ask us when you collect your prescription.
